Well, 300 lbs can be short and fat or tall and muscular. At 6′7″/300 lbs, I fit in the latter category. I use two different camp chairs, depending on where I’m going. When I don’t plan to spend a lot of time outdoors (cold weather, etc), I take a Coleman folding camp chair as sold by Sam’s. If I have some serious lounging planned, I take a fold up lounge chair made in Italy and distributed by Stag-Parkway in Atlanta. I bought mine from a local RV dealer but Camping World and other on-line RV suppliers sell ‘em. The item number 12922 at http://www.campingworld.com looks to be the same style. You have to be careful – this chair company makes several different sizes and grades. This one was advertised as a “wide body” version at the RV dealership. Note the oval tubes (not round) for the main structural elements. The lighter chair has round tubes. Mine measures 28″ from outside of the arm rest to outside of the arm rest. Price is $139. Both chairs are quite rugged. I don’t feel the need to take any particular care when using either one. I’ve cut some serious ZZZZs in the lounge chair! Jedd, Consider the Express Chair Portable Lounge Chair / Camping Cot is ready at a moment’s notice. On the beach or in a tent, the ExpressSit lounger lets you relax or sleep, then folds in seconds and slips in its carrying case when it’s time to go. Designed in easy-clean nylon with sturdy metal frame and adjustable back. Weighs just 10 3/4 pounds. Carrying bag included. 77″ L x 22″W. http://www.qksrv.net/click-749737-3956385 ——- Newsgroups: rec.outdoors.camping I am looking for a folding chair that will support a man of 300+ Lbs. Jedd, I’m 360 lbs. 6′1″ and have used the Coleman Brand Camping Chair for 3 or so years. It’s strong and wide enough to accommodate me. It’s fine for straight up sitting (around the campfire etc.) but I wouldn’t want to take a nap sitting in it. Got mine at the local Wal-Mart – Don’t recall the exact price – seems like $40.00

Lose weight??? :-) Just kidding. Seriously, I don’t know of any folding chairs that are rated for 300 lbs. Even most ladders aren’t rated that high. Your best bet may be to try to find room for a rigid chair that will safely support you. Matt

Sam’s Club has a good Coleman chair for $14.99 or $15.99. — Peace, Love and Serenity, Madeleine http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/madewar/

Probably not too comfortable for the really tall person (foot rest doesn’t adjust), but Sam’s Club also has a lounge type chair (back is higher with a small pillow and has an attached foot rest) in the same line as their standard extra large folding camp chair. — Peace, Love and Serenity, Madeleine http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/madewar/

Coleman makes one that is rated for over 300 pounds. Bought one for my dad, and it’s very comfortable. You may have to special order it, but the price seemed reasonable.

I have been where you are going. I asked for help on several boards, but no avail. This is what I found and purchased; http://www.slumberjack.com http://www.slumberjack.com/productItem.asp?id=98 The Big Easy Chair is great. I purchased two of these rather large chairs for my rather large body, I also thought it would make the wife a nice big comfy camping chair. WE also have 2 of the coleman chairs that Sam’s Club sells. But these Big Easys are great. Let me know if you need info on where to buy and I will email you the info.
