Question:

I will be spending the weekend in Ocala National Forest. Any info on the St. Francis Trail? Or…. other points of interest within the park? Thanks, Craig

Sure Craig, I was there about a month ago and took a wonderful canoe trip from the Juniper Springs campground area.  There are rentals and a shuttle van for pickup.   Joanie

Craig, Try the ferry.  It is great fun.  It goes across the St. Johns River over to Deland.  You get to it from hwy 19 by Salt Springs very pretty.  It operates from 7 am – 5:30 pm.   Faith — Faith Padgett

I plan to camp there the end of this month. Would appreciate info from anyone who’s been there. Will it be difficult to get a tent site? Are you locked in for the night? Thanks. John Ramsay

Response:

Hey John, Depending on which campgrounds you plan on visiting. If you are going to Juniper Springs, Salt Springs, or Alexander Springs, get there early! Preferably on Thursday! I believe tents can set up on any of the sites in the campgrounds. However, the "tent" sites in Juniper are the BEST!! They lock the gate, but give you the combination. Good luck and happy camping! PS prepare for critters (including bears)! Simple securing of your food will usually suffice! Halon
